Distance Education has emerged as a compulsion rather than choice to meet learning aspirations of thousands of such people who cannot afford regular classes. We are evolving towards a knowledge economy where the existing resources of higher education are insufficient to meet enrolment targets of our country. Govt of India’s vision to achieve Gross Enrolment Ratio of 30% by 2020 is an ambitious target which mandates increased reliance on distance education in India. So there is no dispute over the fact that distance education is bound to grow.

However the key challenge in offering distance education is the quality. The distance education graduates need to be groomed in such a way that their employability is up to the mark..

We at IKG-PTU have designed our Distance Education Programme with focus on all key parameters of quality education. We have prepared customized study material (Self Learning Material) for our students by empanelling reputed academicians as our authors, reviewers & editors. Study material is self explanatory, self contained, self evaluative & self motivating so that students don’t need to hunt for additional reading sources. Student counselling sessions will be arranged by university at its own Study Centers in the form of Personal Contact Programme (PCP) in every semester. The entire pattern of distance education courses including academic schemes, syllabus, examinations etc will be exactly the same as our regular programmes. This will bring our distance learners at par with regular students. University has put in place 24X7 online student support services for facilitating the distance learners over any query, complaint, grievances.

I congratulate all the new students of IKG-PTU Distance Education Programme for starting a journey of rewarding learning experience and wish them all the best for successful completion of their courses.
